Temptation
Before you reach the checkered flag
Lies the fruit in everyone's eyes
one that hangs beyond my grasp
and one that alludes all that pass.
My senses cannot ignore the call
All bodies close in on the prize
the drummers blind out any compromise
making weak all that share my eye
Blood lines will be trashed
Heavy hearts will be crushed
the Strong and Na've will walk forward
oblivious to the Devil beyond the velvet curtain
The Lone Ranger trailing behind the dust
Blinded by fate but is the envy of all beneath him
unphased by the mountains and sparkling fountains
replenishing thy soul with vast treasures
beyond the checkered soil.
