Myself
I’m the crystalline dream, just as you wake-
a glimmer in the blue Morning Twilight.
When you find you can give more than you take,
the shimmer of my essence; taught you right.
You’ll find me in the first green bloom of spring
no dimmer a smile than sun’s warm, gold ray.
But I’m also a black, dangerous thing,
away with victory when it’s gone astray.
The large empty whole in your head,
The frowning clock’s tick: my animal growl.
Monsters of mind, not-hiding ‘neath your bed
waiting with a smirk when game play turns fowl.
I can be a pauper, or a fine king,
I am nothing, and I am everything.
