Pepper
I have a small, black little dog
she is a miniature schnauzer,
through thunderstorms, wind, rain and fog
she will bark like a howitzer.
When intruders come to hurt her
and the rest of her wolf pack too,
she will snarl and fight the robber
until she turns a shade of blue.
but when they persist she’ll back down,
she finally has retreated.
There walks away the man in brown.
Again she’s been defeated,
but when the sun comes out she is lazy
and sleeps like she’s pushing daisies.
